A New Look for Eck MacNeely Architects

Architecture has long been inspired by nature to ignite the “spirit” of space and harmonize with its surroundings. For over forty years, Eck MacNeely Architects has followed its conviction that in each design detail lies the opportunity to create the spirit of a space, its sense of place, so that the energy and emotion of the daily rituals of living, working, learning, and playing can be felt within its walls. This mission statement was the inspiration for a new video introduction Laidlaw Group created for the existing EMA website.

Front-ending the video is a sumptuous montage of dwellings found in the natural world – a honeycomb glistening with honey, a quail’s nest awaiting a fresh brood of hatchlings, and a sinuous spider’s web undulating in the breeze. The video continues the “spirit” of a space theme with pairings of images representing the firm’s three areas of practice – Homes, Interiors, and Campus facilities. A mesmerizing scene of running water is paired with a dramatic sunset image of one of the firm’s stunning waterfront homes. The presentation is accompanied by a soulful cello solo “A l’Ombre du grand Arbre” (In the Shadow of the Big Tree) by composer Massimo Bosco.
