A Boston Real Estate Icon: The Meads of Commonwealth
We had the distinct good fortune to build the brand for The Meads of Commonwealth, a luxury residential property located on 415 Commonwealth Avenue in Boston that transformed the Boston real estate landscape.
When the developer approached us, they were beginning the project. The building was originally built in the 1890’s by the iconic architectural firm of McKim, Mead, and White. The principals were Charles Follen McKim, William Rutherford Mead, and Stanford White. The firm was one of New York’s best, and also had a prominent practice in Boston led by Charles McKim.
Their most significant work was the Italian Renaissance-style Boston Public Library, commissioned in 1887 and completed in 1895. Other major designs included the Algonquin Club (1887), Johnston Gate at Harvard (1889), the Shaw Memorial opposite the State House (1897), Harvard Union (1900), Symphony Hall (1900), the New England Trust Company Building (1905), and Harvard Stadium (1903-1910), the Phillips Brooks Memorial in Copley Square (1910), and Harvard Business School (1924) in Brighton. The firm also undertook a number of Boston real estate residential commissions, including 415 Commonwealth Avenue in the Back Bay.
Gracing Commonwealth Avenue, The Meads of Commonwealth has sweeping city views of Boston’s Back Bay skyline and the Charles River. The property is located within steps of couture shopping, gourmet restaurants, museums, and The Esplanade. The developer’s vision was to offer residences with amenities that are reminiscent of a return to the residential grandeur of Boston’s elite.
The project included naming the development, creating the logo, designing the website and all marketing materials including the corporate brochure, sales literature, and a video. The building redefined luxury living from the past when it was converted into 13 elegant single-family luxury residences topped with an opulent penthouse unit boasting over 3,000 square feet of indoor living space and 2,000 square feet of outdoor area.
